For about 5 months now I've been using my Sky card in a DM500S and "sharing" it internally with my Icecrypt S4000HD reciever. The 500 simply functions as a server and isn't connected to anything other than my sky dish and my router.

I have the full Sky package (paid to Sky, not CS'ing or anything ropey like that), but despite running CCcam (will have to verify the version).. my Sky card seems to die every couple of months.

Last time it happened was 2 months ago, and it's happened again today - exactly 2 months to the day!! Last time, I put the card into my Sky-supplied box and rang them, they sent out a signal to my card and it came on straight away.

Now, is there anyway to prevent this from happening, without having to keep removing the card from the dreambox? I thought that CCcam was supposed to keep the card alive?

I could just go back to using the Sky+HD box, but it seems a shame after paying out £400 for my own equipment, and then not benefit from being able to record to my NAS box etc..

And what's the best way to get the card active again? Will Sky start questioning me if I ring them again?.. can I activate it by leaving it in my Sky+HD box over the weekend?

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Stu

You'll have to start by verifying the version of CCcam. It has to be at least 2.1.3 otherwise your entitlements won't update.

Ah, I guess that might be my problem then... I've telnet'd to the box and it appears to be running CCcam.211 and newcs.166
Can I just upload the CCcam 2.1.3 over the top of the 211, or would the config file need to be changed too?

Just copy the new CCcam.bin file over the top of the old one and make sure you chmod it to 755.

You'll find it in Var/bin

Make sure the cccam.bin for 2.1.3 is named the same as the 2.1.1 file otherwise it won't work.

When done either reboot the box or restart cccam.
