Hi,

Can one of the experts point me to some tips on recording.

I am running DM800 with Gemini image and have successfully added a USB drive and pointed the recording paths to it.

I have a couple of questions, sorry if they are lame :)

(1) How do I set it up to record a channel as soon as I change to it so I can rewind if needed. If this is possible that is. If it is possible, does it then discard that recording if I change channels so it doesnt fill up the drive.

(2) How do I configure the DM800 to record something in the future, is it based on EPG select or date/time with the (before/after delay you can configure within the settings)?

Thanks in advance

I`m no expert, but I have never heard of 1/

and 2/ Yes it is done by the EPG, now you have a Hard Drive mounted go to the EPG Panel (Blue Button)and Enable the Auto Download - Satmate or Rytec are both ok

Point 1 is effectively what a Sly+ box does but I believe it only stores the last 30 mins. It's also the reason why most Sly+ boxes die after a couple of years of having the hdd hammered constantly. I've seen that the newer +HD boxes have a pop-up after a certain amount of time basically to make sure you're still watching and if you don't respond, it temporarily disables the timeshift mode to save the hdd. I wouldn't mind something like that on my DM800HD.
