Hi,

I currently have an IPBox 9000HD but I'm thinking of buying a DM8000 as a one box solution.

I want to watch & record free-to-view HD channels in the UK from BBC, ITV & Sky.

Would it be possible to do this with the DM8000 using a Sky FTV card and would I need to buy a card reader also?

If I fit a DVD player would it be possible to record directly to DVD and is the picture upscaled to 1080 when playing normal DVDs?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi meagain123, welcome to the forum.

You can use your card in the card slot, no need for anything else, just an appropriate emulator (newcamd + cccam).

Don't think you can record directly to the DVD drive, at least I haven't found a plugin for this (yet).

As with normal SD channel viewing, it will be upscaled through HDMI.

Hi Llew,

Thanks for the info. I've ordered my box so have you any advice regarding which image to use etc. given that I want to watch FTV on Astra 28.2 & Eurobird 28.5.

I've found loads of info. on this forum regarding the Dreambox range and I've downloaded the manual. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Thanks again.

Hi Llew
If you won`t to burn anything, first save it to the HDD first then burn onto a DVD.

My choice of image would be, Boxman in the flash and Pli jade or Lt-Fifth-5 on the CF card.

Or possibly the new Nabilosat Enigma2 Black Hole - v0.8 when it is released

Yes Gerry, that's what I do. I think the OP was considering the possibility of a direct recording to DVD.

NB BH 07 working fine at present. Can't get my CF card recognised though (a Speedy 1GB).

I like the new look of 08, don't know if there's anything new apart from that; will try it when it appears.
