Does hd require more signal quality.

Hello I have tata sky box and i live in saudi arabia. I am getting all channels clear day and night. My signal quality here with humax 5400z readings are on the 12 transponders

11009 25%
11670 30%
11550 34%
11090 25%
11050 29%
11130 28%
11170 24%
11470 30%
11510 32%
11590 27%
11630 30%
You need a 20 or plus signal to recieve the channels. Now tata sky has started hd channels on 11670 transponder which I am recieving 30% quality.
My question is will the hd channels work with the same quality or do they require more than 20% quality which the normal channels come. I do not have a hd box to test it.

Difficult to say for sure ........... HD signals tend to have different Symbol Rates and FEC from mainstream SD Channels (although even they aren't exactly consistent across the various Satellites/Transponders), so that might affect the issue.

In any event, your Quality figures are specific only to you (in terms of allowing you to optimise your own installation) and can't easily or reliably be compared to anyone else, or to some sort of generalised figure.

I can't comment on Tata Sky as I can't receive that but I've found on channels in Europe HD needs slightly more signal but as Tivu suggests, I think it could be down to the Symbol Rates and FECs used.

Hello decode33,

for HD-package on 11670 H 30000 5/6 in DVB-S MPEG-4/HD QPSK you don´t need more signal quality than other frequencies of Tata Sky.

I can reach this beam here in Germany with 220cm and 1,6° elevation! But signal is not stable!
