Does the DM800 and DM500 share the same IR codes?

Hi. I recently got a DM800 to replace my Sky+ box and it's working great. The only thing is that you can't watch live TV while recording something.

I was thinking about picking up a DM500HD and using that with the now spare satellite connection. The thing is, will a remote control from one operate the other? There's no way that these two boxes can operate side by side if that is the case!!

Yes they use the same IR codes, HOWEVER, you can change the codesets between 4 different sets. This is described on this forum. You change the IR file on one of the boxes and reprogram (simple button presses) one remote and then you can have multiple dreamboxes in the same location. This also lends itself to then use a Harmony remote to control both boxes.
Note. After using the DM500HD, I think you will never use your DM800 again (I don't).
