Domestic subscription of Viasat in uk questions

Hi Everyone

Im new to the forums, i herad in the news today that the Pub owner in portsmouth won her case of showing prem football in her pub from a european provider, my question is can i get a subscription for home viewing or is it only for buisiness/public preformance ?


Do i need a reseller or can i buy direct from the providre ?

Under the current ruling its ok to buy a foreign subscription for personal use.

I doubt you will find it possible to buy direct for a while yet though.

Thanks for the quick reply, so the ruling is its now ok for pubs to show the footy without paying sky a shed load of money.

Until the PL starts putting their logo all over the video feed - then the pub will be in breach of copyright and in trouble when busted.

So whats all the fuss about then? its not a victory then i cant see what the deal is, i am dense :)

I would hope in the long run this ruling would mean its fair to subscribe to any countries satellite platform legally regardless of where in the EU you live... if that platform shows PL and what the cost is, who knows. I dont think it will happen for a while, but with Finnish links to my family, i would love Canal+.

At the moment the total Canal+ package (inc PL) is €29 a month. If something like this was to happen, i suppose they would need to increase prices and maybes offer a seperate "PL TV" channels additionally.

Its far too early to be thinking about the actual realities of the situation are. Some very expensive lawyers will spend the next few days scratching their heads & earning huge amounts of £££'s for doing so!
