Will someone confirm for me whether or not dragonload.exe will successfully
program the loader card on either:-
a) Windows NT4 or
B) Windows W2K Professional

Sorry alfin I've just seen your post. Are you ok now? I couldn't think of a reason why it wouldn't but if you still have probs post again please.

Thanks for the reply, can only think I have some obscure h/w problem.
The reason for the question is:-
I have a serial connection programmer. On my company laptop pc with XP it programs ok. This laptop has a serial connection.

My home laptop only has usb connections.

However, I have on old desktop, I have tried both NT4 and W2K Prof.
Dragonload reports 'card loaded' but inserting into the receiver gives 'invalid image'. No damage is done to the card, and it programs ok with my company pc.
 
Strange i would have thought that W2K would be ok since XP pro is fine on my desktop.
I'll try to find out if anyone else has this problem.

You could try lowering the baud rate or switching off FIFO I suppose.

I have only USB on my laptop and have just purchased a USB to serial converter to play with. Probably experiment later.

I will be very interested if you get the USB to serial converter to work.
I bought one [consists of USB connection cable to serial connection + driver].
It generates the COM ports and everything looks correct.
When running dragonload it fails to connect. Message something like 'check settings.....'
Tried changing various combinations for the COM ports to no avail.
 
Hi alfin,
I use a Fun card 7 to load my Dragon, that way I only use the USB side of the programmer, this might be the cheapest solution to any problems.

Didn't get round to trying the converter last night but hopefully tonight or tomorrow.
 
mabee the card needs a full erasing because i notice when i say use my fun7 to update my MRV cam and then erase the card and try loading dragon on it will just give error, somtimes you just gota play with settings and it works im using infinity usb
 
I have a Clanzers Pohoenix/Smartmouse Ver 3.1 Programmer connected to my computer with a nine pin cable.

When I click on the dragon load soft ware that I have it tells me that it ois not connected and when I click on connect it tells me to check my settings.. I do not have the loader card inserted yet...


What is wrong......please

You have to insert the loader card, then connect.

can you please provide more information regarding your loader card, there are at least 3 types, that I'm awar of:
1. The original Dragon loader, has a picture if the dragon and the words Dragon Loader Card.
2. As above, but with, * Fun7, before the word Dragon,
3. The Fun Card 7(PrussianCard5), looks like a normal Fun Card.
There are 2 different methods to program these cards, as described in the howto.txt found in the Predator folder:

You need:
-Smartmouse compatible card programmer
-The dragonload.exe program
-Connect the card programmer to com1 or com2, make sure the programmer is in 6 MHz mode
-Execute "dragonload.exe"
-By pressing the "Settings" button, you can change from com1 to com2
-Press "Connect"
-In the file open dialog that appears, select the firmware you want to load.
-The card will now be loaded.
ALTERNATIVE METHOD
For this method, you need a FUN7 card
Using a suitable program, program the FLASH of the FUN7 card with FUN7LDR.HEX,
and program the EEPROM with predator2XX.bin. Make sure the program you use
handle the large eeprom size of the fun7 card correctly!
END alternative method
Insert the programmed card into the Dragon module. Insert this into a receiver
and turn on the receiver. make sure you are tuned to an FTA channel.
Go to the Common interface menu on the receiver, and select the "Dragon Loader" module.
In the next menu, select "yes, Load module".
Now a menu appears indicating that loading is in progress. To see the actual porgress percentage,
select "refresh". There is no auto-refresh because some receivers had problems with that....
When loading is complete, a menu appears saying "Loading successful". REMOVE the loader
card from the module, and switch off and turn back on the receiver.

Can you please post back with more details.

Many thanks for reply Mickha.....

The card iscard number two from the above list. ie it is a draggon card with a dragon on front and *Fun7 appears before the word Dragon
