Hello,

I have a problem with my dreambox 500, I can't stream to watch TV on my pc.

attachment.php

When trying to use vlc I got a screen without any video:

attachment.php

I have to say Kaspersky+Firewall have been disabled but nothing changed.

My drembox is connected to the internet (I can download files from gemeni server), I can also login ftp, I even can record from DB using ngrablite. I also mounted DB with my pc.

Everything runs OK exception streaming from the browser.

I also tried to stream using firefox and here is the result:

attachment.php

When kaspersky is enabled i receive this message:

-------------------------
29/08/2008 16:59:22 The application F:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe cannot establish connection with server 127.0.0.1. Please check your internet connection settings. If you have a firewall installed, check that the application avp.exe is allowed internet access.

-------------------------

Sometimes I see this error message:

attachment.php

I am using tp-link router, I though it is causing the problem so I bought a new router (Edimax BR-6504N) but still facing the same problem.

I also tried to disable the wireless LAN and connect to the internet using network card but nothing changed.

I am using XP sp3 and I have to say streaming through the browser worked successfully in the past. Suddenly this problem happened.

I don't know if I missed something. I searched the forum to find a solution, also tried to find something using google but till now I FAILED. :confused

At last before getting desperate I hope to find here a solution.

Thanks.

The first screengrab suggests you didn't select the VLC ActiveX web component when installing VLC (VideoLAN). Have you tried using Firefox?

Have you added the Dreambox IP address to your Firewall as a Trusted Zone?

Have you tried with Firewall off? Can you ping the Dreambox from the PC?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling VLC?

Hello again mhku,

Have you added the Dreambox IP address to your Firewall as a Trusted Zone?

Yes, as I mentioned before I can do everything (ngrablite recording + mount + ftp) .. except the streaming. I can see the dreambox ip listed in the Active DHCP Client in my edimax router.
Have you tried with Firewall off? Can you ping the Dreambox from the PC?

Yes, I disabled the windows firewall. I also disabled kaspersky antivirus. Nothing changed. I can ping the dreambox ip:

Have you tried using a static IP address for the Dreambox?

Is your PC wireless (is it 54mb or 108mb)? If yes have you tried using a CAT5 cable?

Any help ?

Should I give up ?

Maybe I have to open specific ports ?

Is there an opportunity to connect DB to my pc directly without router ?

I still think VLC is not installed correctly but can you mount a drive on your PC and record on it from the Dreambox?

Yes,

There is an existing mount and I can record without any problems.

I can also control DB completely from here:
http://192.168.2.104/?screenWidth=1152

Everything is OK except of this streaming issue.

Can I stream using windows media player ? Must I use VLC ?

One can only presume then that if that is the case then SP3 must be closing off a port that the streaming requires. If there is nothing in the documentation for VLC as to which port is being used then you may be a bit stumped. Perhaps a read over at microsoft website would reveal exactly what SP3 makes more secure and attack the problem from that angle

I can stream to my Vista Notebook, but only by selecting a FTA channel first, then clicking on the "video" link in the dreambox web browser. it then opens up the VLC and I can watch it. If I then select an encrypted channel, it works. If for some reason I select an encrypted channel first it does not work.
If I press on the webx tv link, I get a message on Firefox that I need a plugin - which I can't seem to find.

When it works, i get a good picture even though it strams over the wireless connection.
