Dreambox 500 : Why its so difficult to find suitable information : Can you help ?

Hello community

I am new user , hence I Dont know much about Dreambox setup.

All I have is new box of Dreambox 500 + TV + Laptop

I really need some wisdom and help from this forum to get started.

I have seen very overcomplicated pdf guides and steps , Can any one give me some simple and easy to to understand. Sorry I am not super intelligent to figure out complex things :-(

Screen shots would be of great help. If such help exist ?

Can you give more detail on what you are trying to achieve? You have not mentioned if you have a dish and it it is motorised or static.
 
I have static dish with one LNB .

What i need is :

- Load new image file , I read gemini 4.7 is most stable project
- I need to know , what I need to load image file to dreambox - ( I know how to use FTP , I also have router , what cable I need ? )
- What i need apart from image file ? some config files ? to sort new channels ? get more channels ?

You should try and search each of the things you want to do but I will give you some input.
Firstly don't use gemini images if your box is a clone (most likely is as they don't make the original anymore) There are other images avaliable PLi Jade or NabiloSat (use google to find) are both good images and won't brick your dreambox. If you must use gemini images then get clone safe version.
I normally flash via serial cable but for network flash use flashwizard, other may reply with different methods. A normal nework cable connected to router will be fine just make sure you find the ip address of the box, Menu option 6 and then expert settings then network.
With regard to channels it all depends on what sat you are pointing at and what you want (pay or fta channels) Once your image is installed then you need to scan for channels on the sat your dish is pointing at. Dreamboxedit is a good app for sorting your channels.
To get pay channels you need to read up on cardshare pay servers are not promoted on this site, you need somebody who is willing to share their card with you and you can setup ccam 2.1.3.

You have quite a lot of reading to do so don't try and rush it, take your time and google or search this site for more detail on what I have given you above.
