Dreambox 500s clone MAJOR PROBLEMS

Ok this is where I am now, after yesterday and about 10 hours googling and asking jeeves I am still no further than I was, so rather than fooking the box out the window I done a factory reset and scanned the astra sat and I have all channels loaded but just can watch the usual free stations, my problems are

1 cant seem to get the box to connect to the laptop or internet

2 when following the guide in here _http://blog.dreamboxfile.com/dreambox-tutorials/cccam-installation-and-setup-tutorial-in-dmm on the third pic I dont have the option to download and install, my options are
Download gemini server
Download my server
Set up
Manual Install
Delete

Also when I am in Communication setup I only have these options

DHCP which has a green tick
IP
Netmask
Nameserver
Gateway
Enable Network
Web Interface Port......set at 80
Where is the type box

No matter what I try in here it keeps saying Network setup is not ok

All I have done to the box is factory reset, scanned for channels nothing else also when I turn on the box I get the GP logo no software version is written on it.

Please what do I need to do, I have no router just a crossover cable from laptop to box.

Please if you can help me.
 
You appear to have a Gemini image on your DM500 clone - if so that is very dangerous as Gemini images will destroy your box.

I suggest you load another non-Gemini image (eg Eagle) using an RS232 cable and try again. Report back if still having problems.

It seems that DHCP is enabled on your dreambox. Your Laptop most likely wont be running a DHCP server, so you'll have to manually set up your IP settings on both the laptop and the dreambox.

Once you have successfully connected these two, you'll need to bridge the connection to whatever you use to connect to the internet, be that wifi, 3G USB modem or whatever.

As mentioned, I'd remove the gemini image and replace it with something clone friendly like Nabilosats Darkstar II.
 
This is where I am now

I have downloaded and installed NabiloDM500-v 08-maxvar.img using Dream up.

I am now in Nabilo Downloads Manager....When I press ok on Nabilo Image Cams I am getting this message..... Sorry, Connection to server refused, check your network settings

This has me baffled as I have tried most of today to fix this and I cant, but I feel I am really close to the finishing line so I am not giving up, has anyone got any advice?

Please remember I have no router and am using a crossover cable from laptop to box.

I am not familiar with the Nabilo image so can't give you specific advice.

If no one posts any help on Nabilo Downloads Manager can I suggest you try to connect with DCC (Dreambox Control Centre) and report the messages you get. I am sure you will get more help if you try DCC as many more people use it.
 
Hi I am using the Nabilo darkstar11 on a dm500s, it is a good image. I think that your problem is your network settings or cabling.Can you tell me what way you are connecting the dreambox to your router(Internet Connection), what type of router do you have and is dhcp enabled on it. When you look at the dreambox communication setup is dchp box ticked? if so is there an ipaddress assigned to it and is there dns information.

Hes not using a router - read post #1 again and all the connection info is there.
 
hi i just buy a dm 500s and after 2 min it crush
i change the image and still the same i have to live to cool
for 10 min to start again please can you help me?
