dreambox 500s dead :(

Hello all,
I updated my dreambox 500s from JADE1 to the new version JADE2 via Flashwizzard 6.3 over IP and it got to the point where it said "checking files and checksum" or something like that (After the copy) and it stayed this way for over an hour....
I had to reboot the dreaming (nightmare) box and now it does nothing...
That is... when I put the power in, the green light lights up, but no signal to the TV... after a couple of minutes the green light stops and on the back the digital audio lights up /-|

What i already tried is this:

Unplugged everything LNB's, Scart, Digital Audio and ethernet.

1 power off and power on with the button pressed

2 power off for 2 hours start dreamup V1.3.3.4 connect via COM1 to the box and plug in the power.

3 tried to connect with a hyperterminal to see if I see any connection at all.

But NOTHING!!!!)(-red)(-red)(-red)(-red

Am I the first to have a dead box?
it is by the way a real one i checked and it looks from the inside as the one from http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...on-dm%20500%20original_copy%20150dpi%20a4-jpg

Are you using a null modem cable to flash it (with DreamUP)?

If not I suggest you try that method.

ofcourse, is there another way to communicate via COM1 then? could be, but i don't know it...

Am i really the only one with a broken 500s?
I still like this box very much and don't want to say goodbye to it yet, so if you have any suggestions please let me know ! :-worship

Try an older version of dreamup. No logic to this idea - just something else to try.

Also, if you want people to help you or throw up more ideas you should say exactly how you have set up dreamup and what - if any - responses you see on screen.

Boring, I know, but it is you who is asking for help.

Is what is see. I tried dreamup 2.14b aswell (is that correct?) same thing... nothing... No response what so ever...

Have you done any updating before to this box or is this the first time?
What is your PC O/S XP or Vista?
If it is Vista, I would try another PC with XP.
You should always disconnect all cables (including LNB coaxial cable) before doing the updating. This is what Dreambox recommends in their manual and I have followed this always.
Use only null modem cable.

I used to upgrade the box from Enigma on the box itself I was running JADE1 and now i tried it for the first time via Dreamup.

Working on an WinXP SP2 and tried it with two diverend machienes. using a 9 pin RS232 null modem cable.

Nothing is connected any more, just the cable and the power, in that order.

Ultimately if you get no results you may need to try a JTAG repair, there are a couple of threads regarding this.

The likely solution is the JTAG repair as mentioned.

But throwing up more ideas.
- Try DreamUP_1_3_2_1
- Check another com port
- Try another null modem cable
- test that the null modem cable/com port are working on something else
