Dreambox 500s problems

I'm trying to sort out some long standing issues on my Dreambox 500s, which I've had for about 18 months.

First, some tech info:
PLi image v1.9 22.03.09
Cccam 2.1.0
Moteck Diseq/Usals Motor - Titanium 0.2lnb + 1m dish.

Basically, there are certain satellites it will only select when it feels like. 16e is one of them,and when I select 7w, the dish moves off to some easterly position instead. Also, the motor turning to... banner appears when I flick through channels on the same satellite

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

How much space is left in /var?

Are you using gotoXX in the motor setup?

I'm not using goto X. I'm having to correct the dish position for some satellites and save them to memory. For example, I have 16e, 7w, 4w and 1w saved.
The dish is slightly off kilter and I can't get up there to adjust.

/var is at 49%.

I had a similar problem with my 500. Have you tried updating satellites.xml (and possibly services.xml)? Take backups before replacing them.

Are you finding and storing the satellite positions as outlined in the Idiot's Guide?
