Dreambox 500s, scrolling picture

Hi,
i am a newbie here and cannot even get off the ground with my dreambox. the picture on the screen is permantly scrolling, like the horizontal hold has gone haywire. i have tried this box on three differant T.V's and it is the same on all of them. i can see the box asking for a timezone but like i said it is scrolling continously.
please tell me where i am going wrong!!!

It's most likely booting up in PAL mode. You need to set it to NTSC (US standard). Ther are some remote keystrokes that will set it to NTSC, but probably the easiest way would be to reflash your box with a new image and in the setup menu choose NTSC in the video setup when prompted.
