Dreambox 800hd clone Error

Hi i changed the lnb on my dish. When switching on dreambox the only message i get is multimedia error on the small window of box tried various things to no avail. Has any got any ideas as i can`t afford to go and buy a new one, the box has not been used much.

When you changed the LNB, did you completely remove power from the box first?

Well the power was off but not unplugged from box

do you change software ?
My be unplug your receiver, when press On switch and plug on power . On screen you must see dhcp and see ip adress. Then reflash your receiver and mybe then all be OK.

did you reflash th box with the right image it looks to me that you have intstalled the wrong one

The box had been working fine up untill i had to replace the lnb it does`nt matter what i try i gan`t get be the error message. I need to know if i can reflash or somehow fix it as it stands i can`t communicate with box via my pc

I wonder if, perhaps, in reinstating the LNB you have managed to short circuit the coax cable?

It is not uncommon to get a wisp of braid trailing across to the inner, or to displace the inner when attaching the connectors to the F sockets. This would activate short-circuit protection within the box and prevent it from functioning properly (obviously!).

Remove, inspect, remake and refit the F connectors at both ends of the cable and reconnect with care. With the box powered off.

I echo Tivu's theory as being the cause especially if you have not flashed the stb

Might be worth checking if your sims come loose.

Another suggestion is unplug the tuner and try boot up.
If it boots switch off again plug turner back in and see if the problem returns
(If this happens you have a faulty turner.)

Often just pluging the tuner in and out will also sort the problem as the turner can become unset with time and heat.

Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Hi,

Connect a null modem cable to the serial port and view the output via Putty/Hyperterminal. Post the output here. Could be that the bootloader is knackered. I had this issue and the only cure is to replace the motherboard I am afraid (my SIM and tuner were tested OK on another receiver).

when you try to reflash the box what do you get can you get the ip do you mange to flash the image or where do you stop

Okay thanks guys i will give it a try. If the motherboard is gubbed is it easy to replace and are they expensive.
