Can anyone give me advise on which dreambox to buy.

Which box can be best updated, has the best GUI, ...

pls advice

They are all about the same.

Gui's are all to do with the image you load but are fairly standard on any one ype of box

The 7xxx series dont have the memory limitations that the 500's do, and can be set up easily for multiboot - Ive got round about a dozen different images set up on a compact flash card.

If you need an rf modulator for distribution purposes then get a 7020 . (7000 and 7020 are the same but the 7020 have the rf out)

If you want twin tuners then look at the 7025

It really depends if you want to pay twice as much money for the twin tuner 7025. I must say that the new LED display on my 7025+ looks very nice compared to the orange LCD one on the the 7000 it sits on top off. I can read it quite easily from the other side of the room.

The 600 is also a very nice box. It is just like using my 7000. The Gemini image I use on them both makes them look and work almost the same. It is a very tiny box with and external power supply like a laptop uses. This is nice as it keeps the power supply heat out of the dreambox.

Both boxes can take a hard drive, only the 7025 can take USB memory and compact flash memory. You can multiboot from different images on both but it might not be a good idea on the 600, because it has no compact flash or USB slots you have to install the Barry Allen multiboot plugin so it runs on the hard drive. This means the hard drive will spin all the time you are not using the flash image. I use Barry Allen on a CF card on the 7025+ and it works well. On the 600 I just have the Gemini 4.2 image in flash. If you want to play around with different images then the 600 will be more messing around, a 7020 will let you use multiboot on a USB memory stick and is cheaper that a 7025.

As mention in an above post the 600 does not have an RF output so you can't easily watch it in another room (unless you use a VCR with an RF out like I used to). Both the 7020 and 7025 do have an RF input/output

It really depends what you want the box for.
Just watch and record TV without playing with other images to often without rf mod - 600
Want to try many images and play about as well as watching and recording TV with rf mod- 7020
Want to try many images and play about, watch one TV program while being able to record another with rf mod - 7025

I have had a 7000 for years, a 600 for a couple of months and a 7025+ for about a week. The 7000 and 600 appear to be better finished off as fa as the software images are concerned. This might just be because they are very similar to use and I have had a 7000 for so long. There seam to be quite a few differences between the 7025 and the other two when it comes to the web interface, epg and just the general operation of the box. Don't get me wrong I do like the 7025+, it just need some getting used to.

One thing I forgot the 600 and 7025 have swappable tuners. You can select between satellite, cable and terrestrial ones. You can only have one at once in a 600 but being a twin tuner the 7025 could have any combination of 2 of the tuners. You can buy them seperately so if you started with 2 satellite ones you could swap one later for a terrestrial one to record freeview stuff etc.

Let us know which you decide on. Whatever you choose you can be sure that you will get all the help you might need from this forum.
