hiya new box totally confused and thanks for letting me join your forum i have purchased this box it worked fine but i went to update it and like a plonker turned off the wrong switch and the box is froze on the opening screen where it says dream wont go any further can anyone be nice enough to give me some idea what to do as i have never had one of these boxes before and any info on the box itself would be much appreciated ive seen about the flashing etc could you give me some basics or an idiots guide cheers dave
 
I managed to make a similar mistake years ago whe I fist got my box. Thought it was frozen on the boot screen etc. Have you tried pressing the up/down/ok buttons to see if a channel list pops up?
 
Is the 7000 connected to your lan or is it free standing?
 
ITs free standing never had a chance to connect to the internet if that's what U mean
 
local area network - your home network.

I cant remember the exact instructions atm - I'll have a look and see if I can find them but if you connect your 7000 to the router you can reflash the box across the lan using internet explorer.
 
I'll find out about that so setting up a lan would that mean my pc would pick it up
 
Yes - a lan isnt anything fancy - in fact you probably already have a basic one!

Router plus one of these makes a lan!

computer
laptop
networked xbox etc
networked printer
smartphone

Networks can just keep on growing - eg atm Ive got around a dozen items on my home network including a network printer, 3 satellite receivers, my smartphone, 2 laptops, and a network storage drive!

Have a read around the dreambox section - once you get the box up and running you can do all sorts of interesting things with the 7xxx series of receivers.
 
Just get a null modem cable and a copy of dreamup. i know the link below is for the DM7020, but the procedure is the same. make sure you use images for the DM7000.

Read the instructions carefully. The pictures are for illustration only. When you run Dramup on your PC it will be English not German as the URL below suggests.

If you google IHAD you will find Dreamup and the Gemini image that can be used to recover your box. You will find them in the database section

If its froze on the opening screen then its most likely that Dreamup will be the only way you will fix it.

tried that bud but wont pick up the box just asks to turn it on i have and connected it but nothing
