Dreambox DM 800 hd vs. DM 7025

May someone explain me advantages & disadvantages of DN 800 Vs. DM 7025+

i have both the good thing with the 7025 is more support and twin tuners the 800 needs some work ie no support with N#% cards.
at the moment the 7025 wins hands down but the 800 will catch up as soon as the is support for $%^ cards plus it is HD.

I too have both. The problem with N£S cards is not a problem with the DM800 itself. The problem arrises when trying to use an N£S card in CCcam in the DM800, it simply doesn't work. If however, you were to use NewCS instead, it works just fine. So the problem is the emu not the DM. If you want Sly HD on your DM800, simply put the card in another Dreambox and share it across your lan in CCcam.

As for comparing the 2, its quite simple.

2 tuners vs 1 tuner
SD vs HD
RF output vs None.
3.5" HDD vs 2.5" HDD.
Large LCD vs Tiny OLED.
DM7025 has Compact Flash.
DM7025 has 2 card readers.
DM7025 has CI slot.

The better machine is quite clearly the DM7025. Although most people want the DM800 for the HD capabilities.

Bring on the DM8000 it will rule the entire scene !

The 800 is an amazing box.
Its the fastest box out there IMO

And the fact you can watch Sky HD on it beats all others hands down

I doubt dvbmonkey.com are selling genuine Dreamboxes m8. Not for £50. No original 500s models on sale now. These are all clones. They may be good boxes m8 but just letting you know what your buying.

The DM500 was removed from the DM range because of fakes and the launch of the DM600 PVR. Which you buy is totally down to budget. The 500 is a very basic box and really isn't in the same league as the 7025, hence the price. If you want HD then get the DM800. I believe fake boxes have networking issues , amongst others, however I'm not in the know about the cloned boxes, I've never even seen one. If you want to buy a real box from a real supplier, use Mark at _www.satstore.co.uk he has a great reputation and his customer service is 2nd to none !

I have DM800 and previously DM7000S. DM800 firmware is not mature. There are many annoyances. Timeshifting is buggy, fast forward/reverse does not work higher than 8x, http interface is terribly SLOW and lacks some features,...
Of course I appreciate the crisp video image (thanks to dvi/hdmi connexion) of the DM800. It's really better than with DM7XXX, even with SD programs.
For the rest, I regret my DM7000 !
