Me too, just sent email - how exciting!

Hope this is'nt a way to shift pre-production prototypes, I may be wrong but I have never seen DM ask for beta testers before?

Anyhow, I am happy to take the chance if the discount is good and I have always been more than happy with their products.

If you get a duff one, I think you can expect them to put it right - especially as you would be dealing direct and are ultimately doing them a favour. They wouldn't want any bad publicity, would they?

I've applied as well - it will be interesting to see how many beta testers Dream Multimedia want!

I read somewhere that this receiver requires a high CTD input.

Thanks BGonaSTICK for bringing this to our attention. :)
The ad doesn't say how much it will cost the beta tester, only that it will be at professional price.
Any idea how much it can be?
My guess is probably 20-30% but it would be a nice surprise if it hit 50%.
Shipment cost can be a major factor, especially if one needs to return it often for hardware remedies.
I think I will pass this "oppurtunity" as I might be tempted also to buy an HD TV which I intend to delay the purchase for as long as possible.

If you don't ask - you don't find out. :D.

CTD is a non-intelligent, indirect input into the receiver, which by default aids in trouble shooting - and is an important element widely used in R & D (Research and Development).

Shortened to CTD........... it stands for Crash Test Dummy. :-rofl2

Sorry Stick - couldn't resist.

You guys... :D you kill me...

I was accepted by email the next day and now have access to the DMM fault/ticket system. I'm hoping that any returns etc. (should they be required) will be either subsidised or free. I would expect some decent support from Dream as beta testers will have to work for their discounted DM8000.

I do have a lot of professional testing experience, but I don't know what they'll expect from us. I only personally know of one other applicant that has been accepted, but I've not gone out of my way to find any more.

You can be sure there will be a lot of German testers ;)

I'm waiting for my contract to arrive, so I need to read that before I start shooting my mouth off. I'll give as much detail away as I'm allowed based on that.

Exciting times!

The price of the beta box is a very steep €899, but does include 500GB disk, DVD writer, wifi card and delivery.

Lord only knows what the non-discounted price will be!

 That's crazy, I think that would push me more toward the AB IPBox 9000 HD if I was going down the HD route.
