The Answer ?
Its not a clear answer more of what ever we done it worked..
A Little bit of History -
To get the Dreambox 7000 to connect to the internet
Using XP a crossover cable, Dial up Broadband Modem, ICS (Wanadoo).
The box arrived - default factory image 2001 ?
Could not conect to the internet.
Falshed the lastest enigma image .08 (somthing like that)
Could not connect
Flashed the Hydra Luciant image
Could not Connect
Back to latest Enigma image.
Could not connect.
But we did get it in the end ?
What ever we tried following all the advice from tutorials to the moon
and back nothing worked. And begain to learn the words "Host name could not be resolved"
So in a desprate attempt took the box to a friends who uses NTL Broadband and give it a go.
Holly moses it work first time !!!
This is what we done using XP with sp2 installed.
Local area network.
Internet connection sharing.
------------------------------------------------------------
Connected everything up :
Checked the Network settings in the DB.
Typed in
DHCP : Unticked
192.168.0.24
255.255.255.0
LAN
192.168.0.1
192.168.0.1
Port : 80 (still)
Saved the settings
At the pc with the ICS allready set up.
Typed in the address bar 192.168.0.24
The control pannel appeared so were connected.
Over joyed with that used the software Flash Edit.
But previously when we attemepted to install the Flash erazor
option 2 on the left (tools i think).
It prompts that flash erase is not installed would you like to install it now?
And previously when we said yes, we got a 503 error and kicked out.
It worked at my friends?
It prompted us again and it installed it with out an error?
So that was the first mini break through but not understanding why it had failed previously.
With the new cofidence flashed over hydra again as hydra luciant has the option to install the keys and that for sure would be the test as again it had always failed at home..
Downloading >> Unpacking >> Installed
Wow it worked, were ruling the world now lol...
Scrating our heads (how and why?)
So we packed it all up and went to my house,
back onto wanadoo and the dail up bradband modem?
It works ??
Flashed over Peter Pan
It works ??
No problems at all, everything shut down, restarted and it connects once again..
Take from all of this what you will but its my gut feeling that..
1) it could possibly have been corrupt images (who knows)
2) the box just got a bit of a jump start ?
That's it? i cant pin down what it was...
There was no tick box missing, no settings were changes from taking the dream box to my mates and coming back?
But i will say this !
When it works it works, and you can understand why there are so few
threads about this issue, because if mine had worked first time like it is now, i would have put it down to someones networking knowledge and maybe have laughed a little saying its easy what's there problem..
I'm now in that position sitting back laughing..
If i can help with any questions i will...
DREAM BOX IS CONNECTED DREAM BOX IS CONNECTED
Thanks for your help everyone Appreciated :I'm not worthy: lol
