dreambox passwork change

hi all looking to change password on my dream have tryed this below

1 press start menu ,then run ,in the space type cmd
2 then in the promt type telnet (dreambox ip ) without the brackets
3 enter the user as root
4 then password dreambox
5 then type passwd
6 then enter the password you want twice and you are done


1,2,and 3 all went well but when it comes to the password it wont enter ???

I've not done it for a long time but I'm fairly sure that it doesn't show you the password when you type a new one in.

thanks for youe reply m8 thing is it wont let me type in the old 1 first or do i need to do that
