Hello,
Is it possible with VLC and Dream View to stream the video to a remote TV (32") with mid quality on a 2.5mbps dedicated upstream connection for the Dreambox? Any experience with anything similar?

Regards
Oskar

Hi Oskare,

Sorry for the late reply! Also this reply may not help with what you are trying to do.

I have streamed the Audio/Video from my Dreambox (DM7000S) over my home WiFi LAN at full speed to my laptop. My laptop has a Monitor Output socket and I connected this to the Monitor Input socket on my 26" LCD TV. I tried some of the German standard definition channels (ZDF, WDR, etc) which I know (from using the Dreambox 'Bitrate viewer' plugin) use a peak bitrate approaching 8Mb/s! The pictures were obviously excellent, far superior to anything produced by the British Digital Terrestrial service (Freeview).

This setup just used normal full bandwidth streaming from the Dreambox to a laptop with VLC installed. The laptop was my 7" Xandros Linux Eee PC running VLC 0.8.6a. The laptop obviously has to run all the time as it is the source of the video for the TV.

For Internet streaming I use a Slingbox and Slingplayer. As my upstream bandwidth is only 256Kb/s, I have not bothered to try this on the TV but it's not too bad on the 7" screen on the Eee.

Not sure if any of this will help?

Best wishes, John.
