Dreamup problem?

Was told my image on dreambox was causing me problems so tried changing image with dreamup but can't seem to get it working.

Box it connected tp my computer using null femal to female. When I press connect it says on the progress bar connection prepared please turn but when I turn it on nothing happens. Strange thing is it says connection prepared even if the box isn't connected to my computer. I used 3 different versions of dreamup.

I would try manual install but don't think have the room for the 7mb file.
 
DreamUp is full of bugs mate, its not a good method. Connect the Dreambox to a router and flash it from the web interface. Read the tutorials I wrote on how to do this.

Dreamup can be glitchy unfortunatly sometimes its the only option , but the most common problem is;

1 Turn off and Unplug dreambox
2 Start dreamup, make sure to enter port use serial connection.
3 Then plugin and turn on box.

Seem that just being plugged in prevents dreamup from connecting.

You should update your profile so we know what Dreambox you got, what image etc.

I have used dreamup many times without a problem, when the image is mangled and you can get no ethernet connection it is the only solution. Make sure you got the latest version from the manufacturer, don't use any old ones.

The most important thing is that you disconnect ALL wires and cables, scart, LNB from the dreambox, and have just the Null Modem cable connected.
 
Sorry forgot to say I'm using 500s.

I have tried many times with Dreampup and all cables are unplugged but I get ame thing connection is prepared please turn on dreambox. I'm using a null cable female to female. I've seen on other sites it's maybe because my computer is new enough that I ahve to try find an old computer but thats doing to be a pain in the arse.

B16 Could I do it that way you suggested with a 500s?

If I connect the box to my tv I get nothing on the tv screen just blue. The green light on the front comes on won't responded to remote, won't turn off / turn off if I press the power button. The green light on the front knocks off after about 10 minutes but light for internet cable will stay on green.
 
'connection is prepared' is rather a silly message and a bit confusing. cable connected or cable disconnected you will always get this message. the important thing is that when you power on the dreambox with the null modem cable connected you should see the progress bar moving and a message to say that your dreambox has been recognized. if you don't get this then its likely that you are using the wrong com port. on a desktop computer the com port can be com1 or com2 or com3. are you sure the cable you have is a null modem cable as compared to a standard rs232 cable. i have also found if i select the wrong port first time out then if you now select the correct port it will not work even if you restart dreamup. i have found that you need to restart your computer for this to work. what version of windows are you running
 
same with me mate i also have windows7 and dream up doesnt work with xp works fine.
