How do I adjust picture quality? The brightness is too high. Looked in the A/V setting menu but can't find the brightness, colour, contrast controls.

I have Vix image installed.

In Open Blackhole you find them in Menu, Setup, System, Video Enhancement Settings, which is found by scrolling up, or down, to the second page.

It isn't there. Do I have to reset the box to factory default to adjust these setting?

You shouldn't have to.
There is an online Vix manual, try an internet search for "Open Vix Manual" and see if you can find the display options.

Tried that. It wasn't any use. There doesn't seem to be anyway to adjust the picture quality except when you do a factory reset and go through all the set up again.

There is no way to adjust picture quality if you have the ViX image.

I suggest you put a comment about this on the ViX forum and see if you get a helpful reply.

Hah - good luck with that.

But you should be able to download the 'video enhancement settings' plug-in from feeds and reduce brightness.

Normally TVs have picture controls. Am I missing something?

It might adjust the television, to work with the Duo2, but then normal television pictures, or DVD viewing, might be compromised, which is why most images, in fact all that I've tried, have an option, in the menu, to adjust most picture options.

I have an old Sony tv. It has own picture quality settings (brigthness) for each HDMI and SCART input ports.

openpli also comes without the video enhancemant, needs the plugin download.
Got lots of controls, but many have absolute overkill range, much easier to completely destroy quality than improve it :O)

Why not run the output of the receiver into a computer monitor with its own screen controls ?

I upgraded the image. That seemed to solve my problems. Managed to download the video enhancement thingy plugin. SD video quality is still pretty bad though.

I've already given one possible reason, why that might not work, in post #10:

The VU+ Duo 2 is a nice receiver, with many attributes, including the ability to alter its display, to get the best picture possible, without the need to adjust your television, and ruin the picture for other connected devices.

I managed to improve SD picture quality but there is still that fuzziest artefacts around channel logos and ticker news on news channels. HD is perfect though.
