I have a dynamic disk that had 2 partitions. The disk declared itself invalid. I have managed to get most of the data from the disk but..... It's a 400GB disk. 'Active@ Partition Recovery' software shows the disk as 372.6GB - so that sounds right, but after scanning the disk it only finds 1 partition of 273GB. Any suggestions what I need to do to read the rest of the disk? Thanks

What was the original format and operating system ?

2003 Server and NTFS

I used Diskinternal's free Linux disk reader for the hard drive in my PVR. They also do a free reader for NTFS which may do the job. It works under XP as I have tried it out.

Thanks Paul, that was good advice. Now all I have to do is catch on all the things neglected while chasing this :)

I only know _http://www.partition-recovery.com active partition recovery can do partition recovery , but i'm not sure whether it can recover your dynamic disk.
BTW, _http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/free-data-recovery-software.htm is another good choice to recover partition, especially dynamic disk recovery

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll give them a try next time disaster strikes
