Earthquake detection and predictions

And keep them awake, with all of these going off you wouldn't be able to get to sleep.

OK, we got lucky on this one...(those of us on this side of the big ponds)

Why didn't it trigger the Cascadia fault is anyone's guess, or maybe it may have just woke it up???

The Cascadia fault is the line closer in to the coast, it has the probability of a 9+ earthquake and generating a 10 to 20 meter tsunami,(or higher) thus most of the West coast of the US and Canada would be toast, other country's along the Pacific would also be severely affected by this tsunami.

Wow.webp

Another 4.9 then 30 minuets later a 5.1 same place as I reported, if I lived on the West coast of Oregon and Northern California I'd be heading to the hills for an extended vacation.

And more in the same location, it would be very hard to get any sleep with all these biggies going off.

A ticking time bomb, why this one didn't trigger the Cascadia I don't know.

Wow...I don't know whats going on with this many quakes at these levels, it would be very un-nerving to live around this area, I'd be packing up and moving out.

Must be landslides going down into the subduction trench causing all of these, I wouldn't want to live there.

Note, the bottom of this trench is around 24,000 feet or 7400 meters.

A biggie off Japan - Mag 7.6 with a 3m tsunami advisory in place for some areas in the north east of the country. Full live coverage on NHK News.

WOW, I wonder why this one didn't trigger the BIG one.Wow.webp

Give it time. Some aftershocks on the way.

(I'm more surprised those in San Francisco have such short memories, surely the landscape is a clue)
