Dear all,

last night I added another LNB to my ad3000.

Current set-up is:

disequ port 1 - Hotbird 13E (this is the new LNB I added last night)
disequ port 2 - Atlantic Bird 3 5W

I scanned analogue on 13E and found several channels (duna/TV5/RTPi and so on) using the Autoscan in the Advanced Installation menu.

I scanned for digital using menu -> installation -> satellite -> Search for channels. I used TP scan and it found some digital channels.
Then I scanned using FTA search. It queried a couple of transponders and then hung on the scan menu at around 0% complete. It Found 3 TV and 6 Radio channels. The only solution was to press the standby button - Once to stop the scan, twice to turn it off, and thrice to turn it back on again.

The digital scan did not lock up on Ab3 at 5W.

Has anyone seen this afore?

Best regards,
q.

Id be amazed if you found RTPi in analogue on 13E - they shut down August 2004!

There are only 4 analogue frequencies still active

10815H Duna
11320V TV5
11509V TVN
12128H Magyar 2

I have something in Portuguese there. It must be in digital and probably found during the TP search. My mistake.

Any ideas why it chokes with an FTA search?

I have tried to do this four times. Is there another way of scanning for digital channels on a chosen satellite?

What software version are you using? Your menu setup doesn't tally with ones I've used for years!

In mine, Menu - Installation takes you to a choice of six items -

1. Program Satellites
2. SMATV Configuration
3. User's Settiong
4. LNB Setting
5. Motorised Dish Setting
6. Advanced Installation

Going to 6., you use Edit/Add Sat or TP

There, you enter your choice of TP, Polarisation, SR and FEC.

Press OK twice, then the blue button (Scan).

I think I took Programme Satellites and did it from there by selecting the bird and then FTA scan. My menu description was not very good.

Given that the receiver has not been updated for a while then I could delete all the TPs and enter the ones I want again ; Painful for 13e because there are loads.

Im wondering if the channel or tp memory is full. Try deleting some tp's off the Asian birds you will never use. You could also try deleting some of the Sky Italia scrambled channels you cant watch to free up some space.

Sounds like a plan for this evening. Thanks.

I telephoned Echostar and they said to update the firmware.
The techman told me that some of the TPs on 13E had some wierd anti-piracy code there that caused some receivers to lockup on scans when the TP was queried.
He said that the later firmware did not have this problem.

lol. I have version 300 on mine... oops.

by the way - I have been looking in the menus and cannot see an obvious way to delete transponders from satellites.

Any idea?

Don't worry - I read the manual and found the answer. Silly me
