Edision Primo IP S2 Subtitles

Having trained SWMBO to operate the Primo, and both of us being a bit mutton, we engaged subtitles on C4HD, but nothing happened.

Tried a few more UK Channels with the same result.

Later, she was watching RAI3 and discovered the Italian subtitles were aok.

I don't understand why English subtitles don't work, but others do?

We're using the modified Firmware, not the stock Firmware.

Any ideas?

I will check mine, could it be the way the Subtitles are transmitted, Like MHEG and Teletext?
Maybe the Edision is not compatible with the ones used on the UK Birds which I always thought was MHEG
 
It's either transmitted via DVB or teletext. Some work better than others (I prefer teletext ones - when available - on Enigma as I can control the way they look).

Im guessing here but I have a feeling the Edision will be Teletext type subtitles as I don't think it supports any MHEG (DVB ) Subtitles/epg/etc
 
Interesting comments ... Personally I was wondering if it was a bug in the Modified Firmware, but I'll hold off reverting to Stock until @RustySpoons has completed his obs.
 
Oh, and it's probably not that vital anyway as we both find the sound equalisation from the Edision far more acceptable than from eg my Foxsat HDR or the Telly itself.
 
Looked on a few transponders on my E2 box and seems both DVB/Teletext Subtitles are available.
Please ignore the strange language:

Now off to check them on the Edision.

Just checked the Edision,
As you mentioned Lazarus it doesn't work!
It shows 2 sets of English subtitles but none display...

I thought lets use Teletext and type in 888, but Teletext seems to be broken on this box too, you cannot type in a number!
Standard Factory Firmware here at the moment, will flash it with the latest version...
 
The Edision gives two English Options but neither work.

On my Skybox F3s, the two are qualified by D or T and both activate happily.

Hmm.

On Rai Uno, the Italian works no bother and the English option directs you to Televideo p778, but results in zilch.

On France 2 , both French options work and give the same visual effect.

Curious!
 
Now this is getting silly ... switched to BBC 1 and both English options now work and give the same visual effect! :eek:

Try Channel 4
 
Doesn't work on BBC 2, though ?????
 
Well it wouldn't work for me, so tried it on 19.2 and got subtitles, went back to 28.2 and they are working on ITV and Channel 4 eh?
 
The SD Channels work on 28E, but not HD.

HD Channels off 28E work, though.

Bonkers.
 
Not working on C4HD though!

Also the Teletext is a bit stupid on this, looks like you can't enter any numbers, so tried it on Das Erste and as soon as it found the index page it allowed me to type numbers, but went back on to 28.2 and as we don't use Teletext in the UK any more there is no index page so can't type 888!

It tries to look for Page 119 for some reason, that's not a UK standard Index page.
