Hi
Is there a reason why I cannot edit my own post (for correcting typing errors, for example), although other members seem to be able to do it? My posting rules box states that "I may not edit my posts", which is a bit weird.
Cheers.

It's because you're a relatively new member I'm afraid.

After about a month (I think) and a certain number (not sure how many) of posts the forum software will enable your editing privileges. You'll also gain the Personal Messaging rights at the same time.

We had to introduce this rule to stop spammers making an innocuous post and then coming back and editing it into spamming rubbish. Unfortunately it also causes problems for our new members.

You're nearly there!

I think if you are quick and dont leave the thread (i.e. stay on the same page immediately after posting) you should be able to edit the post for upto 10minutes after posting

I`m sure thats how it works/worked on my vbull forum

As said above its to stop spammers coming in and making a welcome post then after the post has been approved by a mod or admin editing it to spam their warez or other junk all over the place

If you still cant edit posts after tomorrow (one month from joining), drop admin a PM saying you have good intentions and asking them to look over your old posts to see that your safe to be removed from the modderation list :-righton

Oh, I get it now. Yes, I understand those measures against spammers, it makes sense indeed. Thanks very much for the explanation, both!
