Editing programmes recorded on a Technomate 5400

I’m thinking of buying a Technomate 5400.

Can I take the USB stick or hard drive with recorded programmes and edit them on my PC? In particular I want to be able to record radio programmes via the event timer on the Technomate, edit out news bulletins etc and then save the edited programmes as WAV or MP3 files.

TM5400CI+USB will only record unencrypted programmes.
Programmes are saved as two separate files, one is the '.ts' transport stream containing the data, the other is the index '.idx' file.
If you have software that can convert this to WAV or MP3, then the answer to your question is YES, else NO.

If you DO have s/w that can do the conversion then please quote a link so I can give it a try as well!

I found this thread which might help us:

In post #2 it mentions some software called “MPEG Streamclip”
_http://www.squared5.com[/url] which can demux to AIFF audio files.

You can then use Audacity _http://audacity.sourceforge.net to edit and convert to WAV or MP3.

As I do not have a Technomate receiver yet, I have not been able to try it out, but thought you might like to have a go. If you do, let me know if it works.
