English TV channels in Bulgaria

My Satellite Setup
Humax Foxsat HDR. LG 37LH3000 with LG DRT389H.
My Location
UK
Considering a possible move to Bulgaria next year.

Television set is an LG LH3000 37" bought new this year so intend to keep it, an LG DVD recorder with HD, and Humax Foxsat box, both also bought new at the same time

What size sat dish would I need to receive english channels and whats the ideal 'set up'?
 
Dish size would be in the region of a 3 to 4metre for any chance of reception from all of Astra2.

If you dont want a massive dish then you may as well sell the Foxsat before you go - many of the channels on the Freesat epg are on Astra 2D - the difficult one to get in eastern Europe. For starters you wont get BBC 1-4 / ITV1-4 / C4 / C5 / much of the C4 family of channels without the big dish!
 
Blimey......3 to 4mtr dish? Seems like i'll be building Jodrell Bank!

Looked on eBay and the largest on offer is a 2.4mtr. What kind of costs would be talking here and more importantly, whats the secondhand market like in this size of dish?
 
You might already know about the AngloInfo sites, specifically for expats. I use the Normandy one quite frequently. Try the following link for some info about local installers, at least you may find some useful information re dish sizes and costs.

Thats ONLY for the Astra 2D stuff - you will get many encrypted channels and the religious / shopping etc stuff with a much more modest dish

What happens from 2012 with new Astra 2 D satelite coverage area?
In my area Astra 2 D its imposible today to receve with 3m dish.

Chances are expats will have to suffer the loss of loads more channels as the new spotbeams are brought into use - all the new craft will have multiple spotbeams.:D
 
there,s a nice bar on sunny beach with a 6m steel dish..and its dirt cheap there so a big dish probably wouldnt set you back any more than a 2.4 andrews in the uk...45pence a pint of lager in the taverna,s..aug 2010..roll on next aug..

The new Astra 2's are to be configured for a Middle East spotbeam so if that fires up the biggest dish in the world wont help in eastern Europe or Cyprus - any channels transmitted into Europe on the same frequencies as channels on the Middle East spot wont be receivable at all. :D

Where i must look to found Astra2D new satellite frecvency European and Middle East spotbeam ?
Its intresting to know and maybee You cant help me Mr.Analoguesat.Using the same frecvency its a very bad news for us autside of the European spot beam.

You will ahve to wait 2 years for that information!

And yes it will be very bad news for many expats :D
 
Two years its a long time,maybee this frecvency configurations dont happens,its more better for us autside Europe footprint to found the new Astra 2D satellite its lost in space when time come...'O'-red
One thing i dont understand,i live in Europe but im not part on it.Why ?

It will happen - and Astra 2E 2F and 2G all have variable spotbeams. It would be incredibly unlucky for SES to lose all three of them in mishaps.

Ive been predicting this sort of frequency reuse for YEARS - the number of spare orbital slots in the skies above Europe are limited, and space for expansion is running out fast. The obvious answer is to start doubling up the usage of existing slots by non overlapping spotbeams. The technology was developed as far back as Astra 1K which was lost after a botched launch back in 2002. Even now we know Astras 1KR & 1M have the capability - a Polish spotbeam was fired up not too long ago on 1KR , presumably for tests. (It was discontinued after a few months).

Only a solar wind cant do this.
Only bad news i receve today.
