Epg problem?

hI all,

Have recently purchased a Pace ds430n from a well known auction site. I have hooked this up to our original dish but can only receive 3 pages of the EPG and can therefore watch only a few channels. The lock indicator reads ok , network id is 0002, transport stream is 07d4, frequency reads 11.778, polarisation V, symbol rate 27.5, FEC 2/3 all these are as my existing box. However, the operating system is different and also the EPG software is different. Have tried a forced download 3 times but to no avail.

Has anyone any ideas as to how I can fix this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Redperil1.
 
I once had a sky box that wouldn't update.
 
Hi satelliteman,

Does that mean I should keep trying forced downloads or leave it on standby for 24 hours and see what happens.
Do you think it is just a software issue?

As I said, I once had one but don't have it anymore, it went in the skip :-rofl2 :D

On a serious not are you sure your completing the forced update correctly.
 
The screen appears to say it is updating so I presume it is trying! I turn off at mains hold in back up button on front of box - all four lights come on and update screen appears - I let go of button and leave until box goes back to standby. Should I be doing anything else? I bought this for a Christmas present for a relation so I hope I can get it to work.
 
Yes redperil, your doing all correct. Hope others maybe able to help :)

EDIT: Out of interest, what version is it showing?
 
Its showing epg software version 3.1a.5 and operating system 1.2s4bq our existing box shows 3.6.4.18 and 1.2s4fi (last letter may be 1 not i) hope that makes sense
 
3.1a.5 is quite an old epg version :eek:

Looks like the box has missed a few updates.

It does sem to have missed a few updates. Looking on other forums it may well update overnight. I will have to wait and see. Thanks for your help if I have any luck I will post tomorrow.

Well I do not know how sky organise things but if I was in their shoes and had thousands of stb's in circulation all of which needed updating when next connected, I would arrange my software updates to run everyday for recent updates, run every night for older than 1 month updates and run every week for older than 2 months etc. It would be unreasonable for all the updates to be available all of the time, therefore I suggest you do what you have already suggested and just leave the unit connected as long as possible
 
Have left box connected overnight and more channels have appeared in the epg. However, the system software has not updated. Have also noted the transport stream is varying between 07d4 , 0a2a and 07fe the lock indicator shows ok.

So some success - will leave connected and try another forced download.
