Last night we settled down to watch "Chimps of the Lost World" and found the Red Button prompt failing to time out on our Foxsat HDR. Checked my other Foxsat and it was the same.

Tried the usual remedies eg Back, Exit but it always came straight back and stuck doggedly to the screen.

Pressing Green did get rid of it until Channel change, when again it failed to time-out.

Later on, the prompt simply refused to appear at all (no bad thing!) upon eg changing BBC Channels and is still notable by its absence this morning.

Checked my Sky Digibox and the prompt was missing from there too.

In all cases, actually pressing Red even in the absence of the prompt works as intended.

Anybody have a clue what's occurring?

Wouldn't it be a good idea if the prompt were to be withdrawn on a permanent basis - I feel sure virtually everyone knows about Red Button features by now without having an irritant spoonfeeding us.

I believe that Freesat and Sky implement these features in different ways, so presume the source code from Auntie is somehow up the creek.

Well this is obviously an earth-shattering issue judging by all the replies and discussion!

Can't believe I'm the only one who noticed it - but I've dipped in and checked a few times during the day and they seem to have resolved it for both BSkyB and Freesat Platforms by about 4pm.

You seem to be the only one who's noticed/suffered from this.

Tell me Mr Tivù, when did you first notice that the world had it in for you?

Ha!

Three different box designs and two different Platforms suggests Auntie is definitely to blame so I cannot in all conscience submit to the concept of paranoia by proxy :)
