I think you may need to supply a little more information for someone to help you.
for example:-
What satellite are you after?
What dish size are you using?
Where is your dish pointing?
When doing a scan, the satellite selected on the receiver, should be set to where your dish is pointing. Also you need to have good signal quality on the transponders that you wish to get channels from.
It could also be of course that your receiver is faulty, what does the error message say?
