error 256 while uploading image with TDC1.2

Hi there,
I have been trying to get a new image on my TD using TDC 1.2 .

I did all the settings on the TD site via LCD panel but when I click the "upgrade software" option on the LCD I get:

ERROR 256
Datei tdimage.bin kan....
NETWORK ERROR

What am I doing wrong?

It means you have no or lost the connection between your TD and your Network. Check the LIP and RIP are correct in Network Setup in the LCD panel.

I have checked the LIP/RIP and they are ok.
Just to clarify, I have both PC and TD plugged to the router of the house.
I get reply on ping to the TD just before I click the "upgrade software"
When I click the "upgrade..." on lcd I get the following on TDC screen :
Please start the upgrade procedure on the tripledragon now.
Bitte die Upgrade-Prozedur an der Triple Dragon jetzt starten.
192.168.1.200 connected.
Transfer is running...
and TDC keep on showing that but TD give almost immediately after the click on "upgrade..." the Error 256

Could it be something related to the ownership of the file tdimage.bin on the PC ??

It might be worth to highlight that my TD is acting strangly, it does not accept the transfer of the favourites.txt file either via direct ftp nor using TDC .

Furthermore, sometimes changing channels it restarts loosing the complete configuration (IP settings, NTP settings, etc..)
Actually, thats the reason why I want to reinstall the image.
The /var is at 99% usage (strange 'cause I have the HDD installed) .
Is maybbe some logfile eating up the /var partition ?

Any suggestion ?

Should I try with direct crossed Cat5 connection between the PC and the TD ? (I have avoided it so far because they are in two different rooms)

What is the size of the file you are trying to flash? Is it the usual 8Mb full image? Could be corrupted I suppose.

Is /var definitely on your hard disk? The HDD needs to be permanently running if this is the case. I would consider placing it on a USB stick as the limited /var size is a problem with the TD.

Those troubles are because your var is full.

The /var is at 99% usage (strange 'cause I have the HDD installed) .

The HDD does not help in /var usage if your plugins, skins and to much key files are installed in /var.
If /var is above 80% full the TD wont work correct.

1. Before installing a new image copy your /var to PC. Also the recorded files from the HDD.
2. Via TD boot menu erase var.
3. Navigate via Triple Tool ( Select Image Path button ) to the image in your PC.
4. On TD boot menu click on Upgrade sw.
5. After booting set the lip and rip in TD boot menu and reboot.
6. Set your network config and other settings on OS Menu.
7. Initialise your HDD .

To avoid TD malfunctions keep your /var size as small as possible.
1. Don't FTP files that you don't need ( use ) in the /var/keys
2. Install your plugins in HDD ( not all of them because the HDD keep spinning)
3. If you have more than one skin than install them on your HDD

thanks both for your help.

I have reviewed all the procedure I was using and finally I got TDman3003 image on it.
I will upgrade to TDman0707 later this week
(BTW, if any of you is familiar with those images, could he tell me if is not risky to update directly from internet the TD via the OSD menu ?)

I guess the problem was a mix of a corrupted image and TDC tool malfunctioning.
I re-downloaded the image and I used the Triple tool rather than TDC.

Although I had to relaunch the upload process several time because TD stopped in the middle of the downloading 3 times. I might have a bumpy lan, I will have to look into it .

The TDman seem to give better video quality than the eXtreme 3.2 I got when I bought the receiver.
I hope EMU plugins are updated and can solve the lack of EMM update of my Csat original card every beginning of the month ('am using mgCam+Newcs now)
And I see /var is remapped (partially) on HDD.

I don't use TDman image ( old Dragon Team image ).

Do you have any problem of random image freeze with the Dragon team image?

It's the only complain I have so far with TDman.
Once in a while it freezes and I have to briefly change channel to get the image back.
Maybe it's a problem generated by of mgcam+newcs in combination with my original Csat card.

I think so.
Its not a image problem. The TDman images are the most recent ones.

No problems here with Digitalb conax card and gbox.
May be somebody have experience with Csat card and will answer you.
