Caveat

Since the proposed amateur band transmissions on the new satellite are to be kept within the normal allocation frequencies of 10.450-10.500GHz, the local oscillators within this LNB would be unsuitable for use in the normal Ku band reception - 10.7-12.75GHz when used with any normal receiver.

Yes, with it is possible only a part of the normal TV band to receive, with manual frequency programing. LNB is specifically designed for the receiving of Ham Radio transponder.

What kind of dish sizes are we talking about for this satellite? Judging from the LNB it's for offset dishes so that's 1.8m and under but the footprint is pretty much global so that's going to dilute the signals.

Many dishes above 1.8 are offset.

An amateur repeater covering half the planet, what could possibly go wrong with that idea :-rofl2

This is the first time I've locked and watched the Es'hailsat promo on 11493 H,1500,4/5 at 25.8 E, using an SDR dongle.
It is good to know that the signal should be strong to use and receive a TV/radio program using a dongle, especially for TV services.

Can an admin or moderator please change the title of this topic to present the correct orbital position of Es'hail-2 ?
It is located at 25.8 East and not 25.5 East as currently displayed in the title.

Es'hail-1 is at 25.5 East.

Thank you

Es'hail 1 is slightly closer to Es2 at 25.55 E, or thereabouts, annoyingly the GTCombo does not have a second decimal point to give an accurate position so I've had to peak using the DiSEqC 1.2 fine tune for this satellite slot

Current 170 hour tracking data at the time of typing this message gives the approximate minimum gap between Es'hail-1 and Es'hail-2 at 0.26 degrees.
I suppose you could align the hourly intervals in a spreadsheet and get the co-aligned time orbital slot gap for a more accurate figure?

Lists below taken using London as approximate geographic location.

From a UK located DX'ers persepective, the Es'hail-1 orbital location position is pretty much an irrelevance, hardly anyone outside of commercial teleport stations or broadcasters can receive it.

I did not say it was.

My comment was referring to the fact that for a UK located hobbyist DX'er the Es'hail-1 satellite is pretty much an irrelevance.
As satellite reception is location dependent, I think it is useful to qualify it with location information. Otherwise, fringe reception reports become meaningless.

Satesco is based in Romania, unless he has not updated his profile. The footprint margins are not so different.
