Its that time of year again - the annual festival of cheesy songs, tactical voting and the ritual humiliation of the UK :D

Its Eurovion night :D With added cheese this year thanks to the Belarus entry which is called cheesecake :-rofl2

BBC1 SD & HD at 2000 uk time (plus over 30 other national broadcasters many of which are fta on satellite if you are outside the UK spotbeam footprint)

Just to show EV has international appeal its being shown in New Zealand, and is hugely popular in Australia! The pic chows Sydney at 0620 in their morning Tuesday night our time during sf1

The last good thing to emerge from Eurovsion occurred exactly 40 years ago.......

I watch it every year-i've always been interested in foreign music-(especially African). It should be an interesting year what with the troubles with Russia and Ukraine, this song being more liked than the previous two years efforts , plus the UK singing last which might help. It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to the Russian singers.
 
The question is will countries like Estonia,Latvia vote down the Russians,thats why it might just be interesting in that respect. Personally our entry (From Leicester wahey!!) doesnt do it for me-i dont like her voice,its just a bit slow and plodding, but each to their own.Maybe she should try something on the spur of the moment tonight......
 
It will be absolutely fascinating this year to see how the Ukraine - Russia situation affects voting.

Ukraine are bound to pick up votes because of it, and I predict Russia will lose votes from across the ex-Soviet bloc.

Germany will lose the usual high score from Turkish voters as Turkey are not taking part

Most of the ex Yugoslav countries are out already, or not taking part for financial reasons so thats their block voting gone

I think it's between three, Sweden, Israel and Holland (which I like the most out of all the songs). For sure the voting will not be as usual and it wouldn't surprise me if Ukraine win....

I hope San Marino do well - its their first ever qualification.

Armenia might pick up a good few votes as well :D
 
Poland's song is rubbish.....but the 'dancers' doing washing and churning butter are worth watching....
