Well its the May Bank Holiday weekend & that can onl;y mean one thing. Eurovision 2025 is just around the corner & the annual ritual humilation for the uk entry :-respekt

So as a lead up to this years competition here are some of my favourirte tracks from the last 50 years

2015 Mans Zelmerlow - Heroes with some very innovative graphics

 
2022 Sam Ryder & the best uk entry in at least 25 years. It would have won easily any other year but was unfortunate to fall foul of Ukraine due to the sympathy vote after the Russian invasion.....

 
1975 & a much simpler time . No fancy graphics. No fancy staging, just the group doing their stuff on the stage.

We finished second to the Dutch :(

 
All the way back to 1976 & Brotherhood of Man win with Save all your kisses for me

 
2007 & UK entered a novelty act - Scooch who were Flying the Flag. Europes voting were not impressed & we finished =22nd out of 24 :-doh

 
Just between you & me I have Eurovision hits blasting out on the stereo in my office at work for a week or so. Combined with singing along to them very tunelessly it more or less guarantees I'll have a quiet week without tooo many interuptions :-lmao
 
1974 & there was only ever one winner. Abba start their 10 year domination of Europe with Waterloo


50 years later I can still see my dad declaring confidently "thats the winner" at the end of their performance
 
1978 & Coco are the UK rentry with The Bad Old Days.


It finished 11th.

Note the lass second from the right - a very yound Cheryl Baker & of course 3 years later she would win with Bucks Fizz. :D
 
1982 - Bardot with One Step Further & Sally Ann Triplett becomes famous for flashing her knickers to the worldwide Eurovision audience


We finished 7th.... :-doh
 
Now this one Im not really a fan of the song. BUT I think the staging is fabulous AND the reaction of the crowd singing along to the chorus is absolutely incredible.

2023 & the Finland entry from Kaarija


FWIW he finished 2nd.
 
EV is well known for its quirky oddball songs & the 2012 Montenegro entry will always be known as the donkey song from the official video release


Montenegro was one of 8 countries that failed to make it out of semi final 1 this year

And having visited Montenegro about 10 years ago I can confirm the coastline is as beautiful as it looks in this video.
 
2011 & Azerbaijan win with an incredibly beautiful ballad. The singers are Ell & Nikki
