For listeners of the above radio station I've just had it confirmed that this station will cease broadcasting on Eutelsat 28A at 28e on 31st January 2013.Being in Gran Canaria this was the only way I could listen to this station as being back and forward to Gran Canaria I do not have an internet connection.

I also hear that the power has dropped on this particular satellite which would lead me to believe there will eventually be no fta stations available soon at this location.

Looks like I have a 1mtr dish available to me to use as a large pan for cooking paella.I already have an 80cm pointing at 26 e so any other suggestions for use.

Eutel 28B is already on station, but currently unused

Maybe you could use the 1m as a large mirror and reflect some of that sunlight back to us UKers!! :-biglaugh

I noticed that 28B was on station. Are we looking at tightly focused beams similar to the new generation of Astra birds.I fear the days of DXing are truely coming to an end.

Not - its the old W2M - rejected from 16E due to power charging problems!

Widebeam and a spot.

However remember that SES have made a spectrum grab for all of Eutelsat's frequencies above 12500MHz starting late next year, and THAT would be on the new 2E / 2F birds.

Well the question begs now, what will be available on an fta basis outside the British Isles with a dish pointing at 28 degrees.Seems very little by the looks of it.

Across much of NW Europe it'll be business as usual.

The Canaries will almost certainly lose all the BBC & ITV channels in the summer when 2E goes into service unless you have very big dishes indeed..

ITV HD is broadcast on Sky encrypted , I have not examined it closely as for the moment there is no need to but is this an alternate although one you would have to pay for even if they are FTA channels ...ie a basic sub ?

That one is ftv

Depends which beam that one ends up on - if its the UK spot many will lose that one too.

it mean it move eutelsat 28b itv ?
i remember i got signal 12600 mhz near 7 c.n was testi channel
before 4 month ago

Ok, so for any members based in Gran Canaria, am I likely to pick up any fta channels on the 28 east.As I said in an earlier post I have a 1 mtr dish available but on top of all the chopping and changing with Astra, the drop in power of Eutelsat bird I am now being swamped with powerful signal from BADR at 26 east. What exactly is available now at 28.
