French satellite operator Eutelsat has moved its Eutelsat Hot Bird 13D telecommunication satellite from its 13 ° E orbital position to a new 33 ° E position where it will work under the name Eutelsat 33E. He will provide television and data transmission services and will provide broadcasts and coverage in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.

Eutelsat 33E is a relatively new satellite. He was raised in February 2009 with the Ariane 5 ECA. The satellite is equipped with 64 Ku-band transponders of different bandwidths - 16, 18, 24, 33 and 36 MHz.
In the main area of coverage, the satellite Eutelsat 33E covers primarily the Mediterranean countries. In Poland better reception is possible in the southern part of the country.
The Eutelsat Hot Bird 13D satellite at 13 ° E was acquired by Eutelsat Hot Bird 13E, formerly Eutelsat 9A working at 9 ° E. At 9 ° E, the new Eutelsat 9B satellite is currently in operation.

pretty old news.
It happened about an year back.

Thread already created here:-
Hotbird 13D redeployment

Hotbird 13D redeployment to 33.1 east April 8th 2016 & has been silent so far no regular transmissions

All transmissions from 33.1 east is via Eutelsat 33C old Eurobird-1/Eutelsat 28A

FlySat Eutelsat 33C/33E @ 33.1° East

I think 13D was sent to 33.1 east as Eutelsat 28A is near end of life use for geostationary orbit but it still hangs in there:-

I think Hotbird 13D / Eutelsat 33E will eventually replace EuroBird-1/Eutelsat 28A/ Eutelsat 33C @ 33.1 east.

Eutelsat 33E footprint @ 33.1 east.

waiting for its replacement.

33c has no coverage in India, but 33e has gud coverage

Dont get your hopes up too much shawl - if Eute33C is performing OK its quite possible Eute33E will sit there doing absolutely nothing for months if not years acting just as an in orbit spare

This is a quite normal Eutelsat tactic - Eutelsat 28B spent well over a year at 28E as Eute28A was degrading rapidly and 28B never carried any channels as far as we are aware.

Yes, may be.
But, launched in 2001, with an expected lifetime of 12yrs, this satellite 33c is already way past its prime ! It needs to retire and pass the baton to 33E ;)

Looking forward to watching TF1, NT1 suisse french channels, earlier they were on 9e wide beam, but removed from there. :-ohcrapThose channels carried some hot stuff.
