EUTELSAT 8 West B

Badr 4 moving after event to 34.5°East orbital position and renamed Arabsat 6E !

Not exactly

Arabsat 6E, it's a new satellite with launch date about 2020 (estimate) also she's gonna be equipped with Ku, C & Ka band payloads and of course different footprints of Badr 4.

Anybody knows when E8WB will start moving towards 7/8 West ?

Many channels on E8WC announced moving to new frequencies on the 1st of October; but the new bird is still standing at 1.7° East ...

Looked like that because the TLE was already 4 days old when you checked, pikmaxx.
With this morning's TLE, 8 West B is now near 1.8°W, an will arrive at 8°W on 30 September.

I hope you are not going to report every tenth of a degree movement right round to 8W! :)

I have found kind of sad remark at facebook:

I was hoping that new 8 West B will cooperate with 8 West A making Europe capacity bigger...

Both Eutelsat 8 West A & Eutelsat 8 West C are aging and at the end of their lifetime; soon they will not be able to perform well ; & it is expected that Eutelsat will put them in inclined orbits to serve as Data and Feed satellites.

It seems that frequencies from 12500 to 12750 will be on the MENA beam ; since many channels on E8WC are continuously announcing that they are moving to these frequencies ; the following scheme was prepared by a friend from Saudi Arabia; thanks to " Sa'ad" ; this represents all the confirmed frequencies; without defining their beams :

Those marked with red are expected to be on the MENA beam ; while those marked with blue are expected to be on the Eastern beam ; no current info about the European beam frequencies ...

Note that both 10971 & 12645 are available in H & V polarization ; this is new for 7/8° West ; may be other frequencies will follow the same pattern.

From the look at that list it would seem that they intend to use most of the Ku band @ 8 west for DTH broadcasts with feeds moving to other Eutelsat satellites maybe 12.5 west along with E8WA moving to 12.5 west ?

What I said on Monday still is correct with today's TLE, 8.0°W (the most likely location) will be reached next week on 30 September.
Assuming 7.5°W instead, it would be on 29 September.

It was assumed that 7.8° West is the target location. Orbitron & satellite- calculations both show E8WB arriving there on the 29th of September; around 8 o'clock pm GMT .
