What about the reception in Yemen ? Don't you even get the Widebeam of 9B anymore ?
And which "good packages" do you miss ?

I can understand your disappointment. We here have the same problems with newer satellites that aim the MidEast and Northern Africa.

As for Kabelkiosk these are intended just for cable operators and not for DTH reception. I expect that the access over cs will cease one day. Obviously they favour the satellite feeding over the German spotbeams instead of fibre which Kabel Deutschland chose some years ago. Before it was active on the very sharp edged and low powered Astra 3A beam similar to what Kabelkiosk now is transmitting from. So in future as intended only customers of cable networks that offer the package and pay extra money for it will be able to watch it.

OTE TV also has decided to decrease its coverage. The so called Greece beam at the very first publishing of Eutelsat 9B footprints was so small that they wanted it extended to countries where many Greeks live and bring their OTE TV subscriptions with them from Greece. Now in times where many leave the country OTE TV would lose lots of their subscribers. I also would have preferred that they would use the Wide Beam because there are quite some in Scandinavia and the Emirates located as well but maybe this way they can improve the service and to be clear it is officially intended just for Greece. You cannot subscribe if you don't have a greek address and if I am not wrong also a greek bank account and fiscal ID is needed.

Maybe now IPTV services offering these and more packages will spread and get better. We'll see.

There are no more 9A foot prints in eutelsat web site, it says "The EUTELSAT 9A satellite is currently under redeployment."

From my location and the published foot prints it is difficult to say if a transponder is in Germany A or Greece beam, the Nordic-Baltic and germany Ge beam strength are equal and difference to wide beam is 2 dBW. Italy beam should be easy to figure out.

Signal qualities in Helsinki yesterday and today.

This is how it looks like here right now:

12341V from Italy Beam as ACM/VCM modulated carrier cannot be locked by the TT S2-1600 like almost all other receivers but it is present loud and clear.

I didn't expect this so soon! Eutelsat issued a press release today: EUTELSAT 9B satellite gets to work

As usual, no mention where 9A will be going to...
According the Reference Document, 9A is expected to stay operational until Q4 2024.

Ive got several of the DVB-S2 tp's this evening. Bugger all of any interest on them to me as they are all encrypted but for the record with a slightly misaligned dish:

11843V - 6.4dB
12169H - 7.0dB
12207H - 7.3dB
12284H - 7.1dB
12399H - 7.1dB
12475H - 7.2dB

EDIT - Ive found 12169 as well so added in

What is the actual point of all these beams? They are now so wide that most overlap each other so can't be used for frequency reuse as they would interfere with each other. Remember Eutelsat have only published the footprint beams to 49dBW so realistically they will go much further as we are already seeing so also not that much use for restricting signals for copyright reasons.

Having completed its mission at 9° East, EUTELSAT 9A will continue in full commercial service at an alternative orbital position.

full commercial service - that looks good unlike wasted 12.5 west A.
My dream is 7/8w, 12.5W but 16e seems more reasonable if they move commercial packages to 9a and use current 16e for feeds and data.

What is the actual point of all these beams?
Yeah, that looks stupid since people still can get all of them.

As this package is quite popular for Greeks abroad it would be of big interest which dish size is the minimum that can be recommended anywhere. According the footprint for Greece Downlink 51dbW should cover your region. Obviously this is not the case at all or your dish is too much misaligned.

May I ask with which dish size you made this scan ?

I see. I am sure many Greeks in the UK would have been upset if this particular beam would not cover them. Up to now I haven't seen anybody asking so I do hope that just a misalignment is the cause for such a low SNR.
Maybe anyone else from the UK or Ireland could check them as well ?

It will be misalignment - the signal from that dish has been rubbish for a while but its been too cold to do much about it!

I think I might see about dropping that dish down to a 60cmor 80cm one instead - that should give me most of the fta stuff on the wide & Greek beams without too many problems - and that 1m dish is heavy & moves a lot in the wind..

You might lose the Germany A/Ge beams going to a smaller dish and who knows what these will carry in future. Maybe even the Nordic Baltic beam could be received at your location if it ever will be used at all.
