I guess we may see more move over to this satellite and reduce what can be seen at 7-8 West

Downloaded the Eutelsat app for ipad a week or two ago.
This shows the footprint of 8West C very tightly focused on the Middle East. So much so hardly any of Italy is covered and not all of North Africa!
There will be zero chance of receiving this satellite in Europe I think.
However looking at 8 West B due for launch in 2015 shows the Middle East Beam has a loop on it which will cover a lot of Europe.
The Europe beam will be very strong as expected.
There is an Eastern Beam which covers a lot of the Middle East and way beyond towards India.

Are you sure? The report from Naples (in Italy) shows that this satellite is receivable at least up to there.

The footprints of Eutelsat 8 West C aren't disclosed yet.

Well spotted, I've attached the image from the app. If you can't read it, the outer ring is 45dBW.

The TP 10974H is locking at 8,3dB and has still high BER..
