But also interesting to see how it works and who will use it and what we'll be able to pick up.

Actually thinking about it, 9°E is going to be a bit of a pain for many considering Ka Sat is also proving to be awkward with the tight Ka band Irish spot too.

Yes, I'm curious to see if any Nordic channels will use it or if it'll be filled up with Eastern European stuff. If a Nordic package appears there then three way LNBs for 1W, 5E and 9E could become more popular here.

Technology
Eutelsat 9B is expected to start in Q2 2015

The new communications satellite Eutelsat 9B is expected to be transported into orbit in Q2 2015. Eutelsat 9B is currently undergoing at Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse / France last test. The satellite will be carried on board an ILS Proton rocket from Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome (Kazakhstan) into orbit.
The new Orbiter is a high-performance Ku-band satellites of the French satellite operator Eutelsat, which is based on a Euro E3000 platform. He has a launch mass of 5,300 kilograms. The space apparatus is equipped with 62 Ku-band transponders. The new orbiter will extend the Ku-band capacity on Eutelsat in Europe. The Trabant will ensure with his WideBeam a Europe-wide coverage for satellite terminals and terrestrial headends. Four regional Beams ensure reception of digital TV and radio stations in Italy, Greece, Germany and the Nordic and Baltic regions of Europe. The total available bandwidth increases substantially due to the possibility of re-use of frequencies. Eutelsat 9B comes at the orbital position 9 ° East used. The satellite is scheduled on the third quarter of 2015 for commercial use are available. The satellite will replace the located at 9 ° East satellite 9B.
The orbital position 9 ° East is used inter alia for direct satellite reception of TV channels in OTE TV platform (Greece). In addition, the satellite is for the delivery of the program Kabelkiosk M7 Group at the headend to services. The M7 Germany GmbH, Cologne, operates the Kabelkiosk an independent and fully integrated digital program and service platform for network operators in Europe. The cable stand provides turnkey TV wholesale products available and to make it easy and cost-effective dissemination and German multinational TV programs . In addition to the encrypted broadcast transmitter, the satellite position has to offer 9 ° East quite a bit of free to air TV channels.
Transport the payload for the EDRS system of Astrium and ESA
In addition to its transmission function for Eutelsat Eutelsat 9B will carry the first data relay payload for the European Data Relay Satellite System (EDRS). The EDRS system will be implemented through a public-private partnership between Astrium and the European Space Agency, and through its telecommunications satellites in geostationary orbit bidirectional data relay communications between low earth observation satellites and their ground segment at very high data rates.

This may be down to the translation, but is the above suggesting 9B will replace 9A?

Eutelsat 9B comes at the orbital position 9 ° East used. The satellite is scheduled on the third quarter of 2015 for commercial use are available. The satellite will replace the located at 9 ° East satellite 9B.
