Eutelsat has announced that satellite names will be changed on March 1, 2012.
The old URLs won't work after this change. Check this page for the new URLs >>>

* Eutelsat has announced that satellite names will be changed on March 1, 2012.
* For that reason, we decided to change the URLs of these satellites according to the new names of the satellites.
* We tried to keep the URLs as simple as possible.
* For example,
* ATLANTIC BIRD™ 1 on 12.5 degrees West will be renamed to Eutelsat 12 West A on 1st of March.
* And the URLs on Flysat will be formed as;
* The first letter of Eutelsat : e
* The angle of the satellite (degree): 12
* The first letter West: w
* Serial of the satellite: a
* And the URL is: e12wa
* The full URL : The full URL :
Code:
 www.flysat.com/e12wa.php
* The main Hotbird link (hotbird.php) will not be changed.
* Hotbird6.php link will be: hb13a.php
* Hotbird8.php link will be: hb13b.php
* Hotbird9.php link will be: hb13c.php

* The new links active now

The western bird names are terribly clunky. They havent been thought through properly at all.

I edit mine to eliminate confusion (and clunkiness) simply to say eg 16E. So much easier!

All my stb is setup like that, why have more clutter, I thought there was a famous quote about this but Google doesn't seem to know about it

"It is not who they are it is where they are at"

Assigning a location linked name to a satellite is a bad idea when the satellite moves it will have to be renamed again a better system would be to stick with the satellite launch name as Astra does,

Most of the satellite charts have adopted the new system but I will adopt an abbreviated version similar to that mentioned in post #3,

For example:-

Eutel 36B
Eutel 33A
Eutel 21A
Eutel 16A
Eutel 10A
Eutel 5W
Eutel 7W
Eutel 8W
Eutel 12W

I think Eutelsat will rename these again in the not too distant future :confused

A bird may move, but a position won't ..........

So eg replacing 2D with 1N makes no odds if the "Satellite" stored in the Receiver is edited simply to (eg) 28E.

Astra and Eutelsat can play space-snooker to their hearts' content, but the changes remain invisible.

No need whatsoever for repeated editing.
