Sad to hear Davy Jones died from massive heart attack in his sleep at only 66. The Monkees were possibly the first boy band? Some good songs from them if you get away from the hit singles

Heard the news this evening, very sad. I actually saw the Monkees last year in Liverpool - I never thought it would be the first and last time in one evening.

Like most of my friends at school was a big fan of the Monkees and their TV series. RIP Davy.

Davy would've made a decent jockey if he'd kept to his first career - he won a race at Lingfield as an amateur. He never forgot the trainer he was apprenticed to in Newmarket, setting him up in one of his homes in America in his old age.
