Hi
First of all, I hope that my post is at the right place.
My question is - looking at the Lyngsat site for example, I see that there are many technical terms regradind to the satellites. sr-fec, sid-vpid, onid-tid and so one. is there a guide/documentation the I can find on the web that I can learn from and find what those terms are?
Thanks.

Well Google is, of course, always your friend.

But, to start you off, let's expand a few of the abbreviations:

SR = Symbol Rate

FEC = Forward Error Correction

And, there is an existing Thread here, http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...ulti-sat-motorised-systems/2734-acronyms.html , which will help further. It has further links within, one of which is extremely informative indeed.

Do some reading and if you have further questions, we'll do our best :)

the man is right - in all seriousness although every or most people on here are so helpful its untrue, the best and I think only way of learning about sats is to just do it and research yourself - its more rewarding and more enjoyable :)

if there is one thing you listen to, then if you are setting up a motorized dish, make sure it is mounted on a 100% plum pole.
