The Express-MD1 satellites have been successfully launched onto target orbit by a Proton-M rocket with Breez-M accelerator and taken under control by RSCC satellite mission control center. At present RSCC via its terrestrial facilities controls AM44 and MD1 movement to geostationary 80° East orbital slots respectively.

Anyone received the signals?

1. No it WILL NOT replace AM2. It has only C band TP, so will be used for C band only.

2. Will be in service from mid April.

Dear but what happend to Express Am3 signals it has stopped all the C band transponders

There's fire on russian uplink. 40E-53E-96E all were switched off, now fire extinguished, satellites going back to work.

Its really amazing a country like russia has very less Satellite tv channels

Does anybody know where the uplink is ? I wonder why they have no redundancy.

They use separate systems for uplink (located in various cities) and one central control unit.

Some of them can be seen here:

_ttp://www.worldteleport.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=325

But they also do have some secret ones, in case of war and so on :)

The biggest one (in terms of installed dish and their sizes, is one at Skolkovo - most russian channels being uplinked from there)

here's photo of it:

gascom uplink (49E & 90E):

Thanks a lot BombedOne.

Skolkovo East of Samara is meant, right ? As i can see 140E cannot be reached from there and surely there must be fibre lines to feed the Uplink.

I have more russian uplink photos somewhere, including giant 7 meter dishes used by siberian satellite internet operators. I can try to find them in my PC, if there's any interest in it :)

Well actually i'm interested in the technical details about the distribution systems of the Yamal and Express orbiters or even cable networks all over Russia. If you've got some links i would really appreciate it.

AM2 seems to have severe problems. Some DXers report that it's often switched on and off. So at least for this orbiter the uplink fire should not be the only cause.

By the way, W1 (now at 10E) shortly will be moved to 80E. Here is the predicted coverage: _http://viva-tv.ru/front/index/newsitem.html?id=80
W2A will take over all the W1 frequencies at 10E.

Hi,

I would love to see the pics and do you know if those giant dishes are Russian made? I'd also like to know what 1.8m+ dishes are manufactured in Russia; even if they are more expensive than Channel Master, I'd still like to know. If I am not mistaken Supral still makes dishes, for example a 370 cm (375cm x 405cm) offset!!!

Again Express AM2 Started 1 TP
