The race points are different from the scoring points this year.

Rick got 25 "league points" for the win having scored 83 race points.

Topper finished second with 81 race points and gets 18 league points

Wobbles was third with 80 race points and gets 15 league points.

So......is it possible for two different people to win the league? I.E. One individual team with the most points (as per last year) and one player with combined league points from both teams?.....or have I totally misunderstood??

Thats a good question :D

I dont know. I think its just the individual teams - so one player could come first & second, although I hope that doesnt happen.

I did consider that scenario when I set the league up but decided as we were rather short of teams last year it was worth the risk. (One team disappeared mid season :D)

Hmm, don't understand it, preferred it when it was more straightforward.

Sorry to barge in, but maybe I am able to clarify some issues.

In a race series an additional competition is available, like in the real Formula 1: Constructors Championship

The score in the Constructors Championship is the sum of the race series points from both owned teams. The total points are just used as a tiebraker in the case of equal race series points.
Add the end of the season you'll get a winner in the race series competition (best single team) and a winning constructor.

Remark: If you want to display your well known ranking according to the total points, you have to click on 'Overall scores' at the right top of the league table. In my opinion the race series scoring system is quite interesting, because it's really close to real Formula 1.

Kind regards
Maverick

Could be an even more interesting race now that heavens have opened 20 minutes before the start

Im waiting for the wind to get up and all the gazebos covering the cars on the start line to go hurting off down the track.

Shame to see Grosjean ending up in the kitty litter so early :(

Yes, it looks like some surreal wedding reception where all the guests are sheltering from the rain. Obviously the "wet" tyres are only suitable up to a point. This was always on the cards given the climate there at this time of year. Don't know why they couldn't have timed the race to start a couple of hours earlier when there's less likelihood of a downpour. Though I realise it's probably more to do with TV scheduling than caring about the race etc.

Kimi looks all set for a quick "four in a bed" session followed by a lollipop before the Race restarts.

Anyone know what Maverick does about Points for an abandoned Race? I know normally live finishing positions govern the Points even if there are later changes due to Marshalls/Penalties, so assume a similar policy applies if there is "no race" ie Points awarded as if tis stoppage were the real result.

Yup - its late in the (Malaysian) day to make the timings better for Europe.

Given that there's a safety car I can't see a race ever being abandoned (unless part of the track disappears). If the weather was really bad I reckon they'd trail round behind the safety car until past half race distance so they could stop with half points being awarded. I think Maverick would then award points accordingly.

Well once again a bit of rain mixes everything up from the front of the grid to the last. :D

A superb drive from several of the youngsters who made some of the more experienced drivers look decidedly average.

Yes although I see Narain Karthikeyan featured in both Button's and Vettel's accidents, the commentators appeared to be blaming Button for losing his own nose however I thought when a blue flag was waved you had to let the driver behind through even on a corner

JB was racing for position with the HRT so no necessity for Karthikeyan to move out of the way.

^^ Thats not something you say every day :D

Yes, I reckon you're right about that - I wonder when the last time a Race actually was abandoned?

It's pretty tedious watching cars doing Lap after Lap behind the S-C, and I think Charlie Whiting probably got it about right today.

The action from the restart right until the end was a joy.

Interesting question...to which I can't immediately find an answer. I thought of Senna's fatal crash but that wasn't abandoned, just restarted (and won by Schumacher). Poor Ayrton wasn't pronounced dead until two hours after the race was completed. Other than a really serious accident it would have to have been through freakish weather and before they introduced the safety car. Incidentally, do they airfreight the safety car to each GP?

Last one I can remember is Australia in 1991 when a cloudburst stopped play on lap 16.

2009 Malaysian Grand Prix. Stopped after lap 31 due to heavy rain. Half points awarded.

I can't forget the picture, Kimi walking through the Ferrari pit with a Cola and eating ice-cream, at a time all of the other drivers were sitting in their cars. :)

The 2003 Brazilian GP was abandoned on lap 54 of 73, after an accident left the circuit blocked. (thanks Wackypedia) Certainly can't remember one being stopped after that.
