Just watched the above on BBC1 - I didn't know anything about the fact that there are probably (almost certainly!) tens of 1,000s of fake remotes on sale in the UK. After that I checked 2 of 4 or so that we have here, and, based on what I have just seen, both of them are fakes (wrong colours on at least 1 of the 4 coloured buttons above the numeric ones) and missing "dimples" in the small recessed rectangular cavity under the lid of the battery compartment) ! .
OTOH, the main one in the lounge works fine but does seem to go through batteries quicker than I might have expected. Not functionally checked the one in the conservatory, but I do seem to remember that it didn't always work that well.
Now done a quick google and it seems that these have been well-reported for at least several years
Well, I never!
