Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Just watched the above on BBC1 - I didn't know anything about the fact that there are probably (almost certainly!) tens of 1,000s of fake remotes on sale in the UK. After that I checked 2 of 4 or so that we have here, and, based on what I have just seen, both of them are fakes (wrong colours on at least 1 of the 4 coloured buttons above the numeric ones) and missing "dimples" in the small recessed rectangular cavity under the lid of the battery compartment) !.

OTOH, the main one in the lounge works fine but does seem to go through batteries quicker than I might have expected. Not functionally checked the one in the conservatory, but I do seem to remember that it didn't always work that well.

Now done a quick google and it seems that these have been well-reported for at least several years:rolleyes:

Well, I never! :D

I wouldn't be at all surprised if fakes got in to the Sky supply chain!

That program first aired in 2016. Fake Sky remotes started appearing around 2000.- they have never been perfect looking, poor colour matching etc.

Internal design of originals is I believe based on a "One for all" remote - codes for other devices (TVs etc) differ by 256 IIRC

Everything can be fake these days. Even the recently phased out 1 quid coins that were accepted by the banks.

Yes they are made by URC, some of the NTL ones were too.

Fake $ky remotes? The $ky HD remotes are shite, the buttons were never resin stamped and thus the letters & numbers came off in about the first 5 months, and that's the genuine one supplied with the box, oh and spongy buttons as well (i.e. That weird unresponsive feel on pressing), utter crap.

I watch a whole fake program on Sky the other day - Stoke v West Brom I think - but don't quote me on that - and there was absolutely no football played in the whole 90 minutes.
